Changing
transparency levels of a graphic to make it a background image
1.
Click on the graphic symbol in the toolbar to bring in your image
(third icon from the left). If you don’t know how to bring in an
image/picture to begin with then look at the instructions called
“Bringing in a graphic object for a project.”
2. Depending on the size of your photo, eZediaMX might have asked you
if you wanted it to re-size the photo to fit in your frame. The result
will be a picture that is fitted right across the entire document
frame. You are going to find it easier to adjust the transparency, if
you click, hold, and drag the image out a little way from the top,
left-hand corner of the frame, as in this next picture.
3. We need to get to Edit Graphic to change the transparency level.
There are two shortcuts to get there. We can right-click anywhere on
the graphic and a menu will appear on the picture. We can also
left-click on the little drop down button in the top, left-hand corner
of the graphic. No matter how you get there, you’re going to want
to choose Edit Graphic.
4. Choosing Edit Graphic made the Edit box appear.
You have 2 choices here. You can select a single color to make
transparent
by clicking on the top box OR you can choose to reduce the transparency
level of the entire graphic by clicking on the bottom box. We are
making
our graphic into a soft background image so we are going to choose to
make
the entire graphic more transparent by clicking on the bottom menu
choice
- the one with the solid black line around the little box.
5. A slider bar appears on the side of the picture. Simply click, hold,
and drag on the little button to lower the transparency level. It will
show you what the picture will look like immediately. If you think it
is too
faint, then move the little button back up a bit.
6. When the transparency level is what you want, click on the little X
in the Edit title bar and close the Edit Graphic option.
7. With the transparency level adjusted, click, hold, and drag the
picture back into the top, left-hand corner if it is a background image
and then adjust its dimensions to fill the frame. Add it to your
document well. If it is just a smaller graphic on the frame, then
simply click, hold, and drag it into the position you want and click
off of it. In the case of the example I've used here, the photo has
been moved into place across the entire frame and is added to the
background. Remember: You CANNOT undo adding something to the
background so always keep a copy of your original photo or keep a copy
of the change to transparency level in the document well.
