Photos: New Orleans, Graveyards, the

Mississippi River, Tugboats, Avery Island, USS Kidd

We had the chance to visit New Orleans while speaking at the NECC Conference in June of 2004. We even took a few days ahead of time to take my father on a visit of the sites. The Mississippi River was especially fascinating as we watched the freight being moved around on the river. The sheer skill involved in manipulating these large loads was incredible to watch. While in Louisiana, we also ventured over to Avery Island - the home to tobasco sauce, and then onto Baton Rouge where the USS Kidd is located.

On this page, you'll find a few photos for each category. You'll also find a link to our other site where we are now storing the majority of our collection as we have simply run out of space here.

Clicking on the thumbnail of the photo will take you to the larger image. Most are around 50 kb each for file size.

Tugboats
Tugboats are very interesting and certainly very busy on the Mississippi. For young children, there's always the adventures of Theodore Tugboat to put things in perspective!

Avery Island
Not that far from New Orleans, Avery Island is home to McIlhenny Tobasco Sauce. While a visit to the factory is quite interesting, a tour of their nature preserve is equally worthwhile.

USS Kidd
Now located in Baton Rouge, the USS Kidd makes an interesting stop-over for any history buff.
