The Rice Project:US Rice Producers AssociationWhen we contacted the US Rice Producers Association in Houston, Texas to explain about our "Rice Project," they generously invited us to stop in and talk to them about what we were doing. As a result of that conversation, they have shared the following resources that are also available at their website, www.riceromp.com. The reason they are posted here, too, is that rather than being interactive and only web-based, these are designed to be downloaded to a local computer which makes it easier for teachers because you don't have to rely on a network connection to be sure you have it when you need to teach with it. The USA Rice Producers have also been kind enough to provide us with a series of slides, that we are digitizing, and will have available at this site. The slides are from rice producing farms all over and show the various stages and the equipment involved. Watch for the link to the digitized slides - coming soon! Where does rice grow in the United States? (Flash Animation) The Anatomy of Rice (Flash Animation) What animals live on a farm where there are rice fields? (Flash Animation) Short movie of rice farming from first to final stages (QuickTime - 6 mb) Remember that you can use your video editing software to break up the movie into short clips. You can also avoid that by just using the features in eZedia that will let you flip to different parts of the same movie as easily as clicking on a button. |
