The Rice Project: Variations - 11st section 2nd section 3rd section The Rice Project allows for a great deal of variation in approach. If we consider the theme from the perspective of time - past, present, and future - we can branch off in even more directions. This makes it relatively simply to accommodate a variety of subjects within the framework. The frames that follow show most of a very simple project called Plantations. The eZediaMX file from which these frames come is available for download. There are three webpages that show the elements of the project. In this case, you will see that there are three frames of commentary that precede the actual project. In the commentary section, I've described what I've done, how I did it, and why I did it. The resources used to create this project came from "When Rice Was King" and the photos were taken at Hampton Plantation. The project is not meant to be a model, but rather designed to show you what can be done entirely within eZediaMX without any effort. What the screen captures don't allow you to see are the transitions that were applied to pictures, the movies and vr's that played, and the transitions that can be applied between frames. Another point about this approach is that it is primarily aimed at the teacher who is thinking of trying out the core project with his or her students. I've found that people don't always read the paper documentation, but the odds that they will note directions seem to increase when it is part of the environment.
Notice that this is the second frame. However, on the first frame, there is a button that signifies "previous" frame when there is no previous frame to go to. eZediaMX will ask you about that when you set up the navigation. This is something to consider. Navigation is critical to the end-user and it should be clear at all times.
The navigation buttons on the side of the presentation are simple text boxes that have been added to the background. Invisible GoTo objects have been placed on the top so that as people click, the GoTo's act as buttons. It would have been quite easy to do a drop-down menu, too.
