Setting the initial orientation of your vr

(In other words, how do you get your vr to start on the part that you want your viewers to see first.)

Go to main page of vr links at this site.

It's confession time. As I learned to make vr's, I was occasionally disappointed that the first bit you saw when you played the vr wasn't my best part. I wanted it to start on a particular image. I thought about doing all sorts of complicated things such as starting to load the pictures one-by-one once I figured out where the computer was planning on starting. Of course, having misplaced the manual didn't help. Once I got my hands on it again, I did a bit of reading and came across the information I wanted. Once again, it was so simple that I wondered why I hadn't tried it on my own already. The reason? I was so busy fussing over how well the images stitched together that I didn't worry about this until those other issues became secondary.

To save you time, I'm going to show you how to do it here. One click and you're done.

Playback tab - looking at vr

In the image above, we have VR Worx open and a project under development. I'm now on the Playback tab - the final step. The scene in the vr you are looking at, in the image above, shows where the vr will start. I'm going to move my mouse in the vr to get the scene to show up where I would like it to start instead. You can see what that looks like in the picture below.

Look closely at the left-hand side of this picture and you'll see an area labeled "Constraints." Under that is the word "Initial" and you'll see my mouse button about to click on "Set." Once I do that, the vr will be set to start at that spot. Of course, if you make a mistake, you can restore the initial starting point or move to another spot and choose that by clicking on Set again. You're done once you click on Export Movie.

VR rotated to the point where I want it to start

Here's our vr in the QuickTime player. Notice that the starting point is the same as you see above.

That's all there is to it. Have fun.
