eZedia Techniques & Ideas 1

You don't need expensive photo collections or clip art to get some interesting variations for your background images. Here are 3 examples of variations using the exact same image and objects.

1. Here's a very simple background for a frame. Drag in a full-color photo and add it to the background. Use the shape tool to create rectangular areas along the side and bottom where you can have your navigation tools for your project. The photo was added to the background first, followed by the rectangles which I colored green through Edit Graphic.

2. In this example, our green rectangles are added to the background of a plain white frame. Next, we brought in the same photo, but this time using the Edit Graphic option (just right-click on the photo), we lowered the transparency a bit. We moved it into position on the frame so that it covered everything and then added it to the background. Notice that the green rectangles have the faint look of stained glass now with the image of the flower coming through.

3. With this next example, we brought in the photo in full-color and added it to the background of our frame. We then created our rectangles, but used the Edit Graphic tool to drop their transparency levels to 75% before adding them to our frame. Note the different effect you get with this simple variation.

More variations will be coming soon. The photos are mine. You can get a copy of this photo to use for educational, non-commercial purposes by clicking on the photo link to the side.
