Digital video
is more than ready to be part of the classroom environment. What was once
a laborious, complicated process has now become quite simple. From the small
video files produced by digital cameras such as the Sony Mavicas to the larger
video files created on camcorders, these resources open up a whole new world
for many of our students.
While Apple and its line of computers has led the way over the years, there
are also lots of options in the Windows environment. Better yet, you no longer
have to fight over one platform or another. Files that were once proprietary
can now be used on Apples or Windows machines. The only exception to that
seems to be the Windows Media Format (WMF files) that can still be uncooperative
in some environments when you go to import the files.
If you haven't tried digital video, give it a whirl. Better yet, let your
students try their skills at creating something.
I'll be expanding the resources available in the videos section as time and
space permit. Go the resources link for this section
to access the choices available.
