Photos: Snow in Saskatchewan 2

Snow 1                       Snow 2

The photos on this page and the next were all taken at the Wilson farm in southern Saskatchewan (Canada) about 1/2 hour east of Regina. We took the photos while home during Christmas, 2002.

You'll see photos of snow and frosty-covered trees and the tracks of deer and other animals that make their presence known through the imprints they leave in the fresh fallen snow.

Clicking on the thumbnail of the photo will take you to the larger image. Most are around 640x480 and average around 50 kb each for file size.

A winter scene on a Saskatchewan farm, December, 2002. You can see the tracks the animals have made in the snow.
All snow
A close up of deer tracks in the snow. I was curious why the deer just stopped abruptly.
More views of the tracks the animals, primarily white-tailed deer, have made in the snow
A view of the surrounding land in winter with animal tracks clearly visible in the snow
Looking out across the frozen marsh with the snow fence visible in the foreground
The old milk house from the home farm is visible as is the snow fence

Deer tracks in the snow
Part of the snow fence is down and the deer tracks across it are visible
The large chokecherry tree where the beavers like to build their beaver dams is visible to the right of the picture
Deer tracks, the chokecherry tree, and the frozen marsh are visible
The frozen marsh is dominant in the background of the picture. It links to the field in the north where the deer like to hang out.

The frozen dugout joined to the marsh - both appear to be one in the snow

Another prairie landscape in winter
A view of the winter garden. The deer have started to each the corn stalks and will soon begin work on the sunflower stalks. The chickadees and other birds have emptied the sunflower heads earlier in the fall. By spring, there will be no sign of either the corn stalks or the sunflower stalks.

The back of a chickadee resting on the window sill before flying back to the feeder for another sunflower seed. Dad feeds them all winter along with the other winter birds
Here's one of our chickadees at the feeder
