VR Software: 3 common types Three of the most common pieces of vr software that
you'll run into are: (1) VRWorx which is part of the VRToobox collection (cross-platform);
(2) QuickTime
VR Authoring Suite (not cross-platform) and, (3) Ulead Cool 360 (not cross-platform).
I've also provided some links on the VR Websites
of Interest page for access to a site that provides a detailed comparison
of a variety of vr software packages. Of the very short list I've provided,
only the first two items - VRWorx and QuickTime VR - allow you to create
hotspots. That's a significant advantage. However, if you're just getting
started, a package that doesn't create hotspots really might not be an issue.
You could just be looking for training wheels.
Each of the links provided will take you to detailed summaries of the software packages. They can explain their software far better than I, so may I suggest you head in that direction for the finer points. In the meantime, go dig in your digital camera box and find the software that came with it. There is a good chance that Ulead Cool 360 is tucked away inside. A very large number of digital cameras seem to ship it as part of the bonus items you get. If you can't find there material, look for something that says it makes "panoramas." That's usually a sign that you've encountered vr software. |
